Health testing for export and to be a future stud dog, dog shows, big wins, cross country road trips, world traveller...now father to 5 babies! After 13 months living here with his family by the lake, he finally made it to his own special place in the world and we could not be more happy for him.
Kavic had a wild summer before heading off to his forever home with Tracey Waddell in New South Wales, Australia! Prior to export, he had to complete months of rigorous health testing including many trips to the vet for strict vaccination protocols and multiple blood titers. He also was able to get his preliminary health testing completed that is required to be a stud dog as well (results below). One of the things I love the most about Kavic is his remarkable ability to "go with the flow" in contexts where other dogs may be uncomfortable. This made his export very easy in terms of his stress level! He ADORED going to our clinic even if it was to be poked with a needle or x-rayed for his OFA and PennHIP evaluations. He also had lovely stays at the Kennel Club LAX (Los Angels, California USA) and even at the TEN DAY quarantine upon arrival to Australia! My brave brave baby..

Prior to export from USA, Australia requires proof of appropriately/carefully timed vaccination and antibody tests and/or blood titers for the following:

Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) & PennHIP
After turning 12 months old, Kavic went in for his first set of orthopedic and overall health evaluations! He passed with great results. This year (2023), he will receive his foreign ratings in Australia.

OFA ELBOWS: Preliminary NORMAL (free of dysplasia)
OFA SHOULDER: NORMAL - Free of osteochondosis
OFA CARDIAC: NORMAL

PENNHIP: 0.39/0.33 Free of osteoarthritis. *Breed average = 0.36
I've Been Everywhere, Man! : Indiana to California
Right before leaving for Australia, Kavic completed the requirements for both his Show Champion (CH) and Grand Show Champion (GRCH) titles here in the United States. He exceeded my expectations by finishing the GRCH only one month after earning the CH. Not only that, he finished it in style with back to back Best of Breed wins against very accomplished and respected competition, a 1st and 2nd place in large competitive herding groups, and finally ended with a RESERVE BEST IN SHOW. The following day we embarked on our 5 day drive from Indiana to California just the two of us.
Kavic and I made pit stops over night in Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and hit as many roadside "scenic views" as we could. It was not planned for me to be his driver for this trip, but I am so grateful that I was. We made some great memories in our last week together starting with his big wins, then walks in the Plains states, by the Rocky Mountains, through downtown Denver, several drive offs in the desert, through Las Vegas hotels and casinos, and finally ending in Los Angles where we met up with my mother-in-law! I am pretty sure that Kavic experienced every climate type possible during his life here in the states. Now, he is the happiest boy there ever was at his tropical home!
They All Lived Happily Ever After....
After a 14 hour flight and 10 days of quarantine, our sweetest guy ever finally made it home to his amazing family and pack of gorgeous girls (Mishka, Xena, and Kirra). He is loved by his owner, Tracey who gives him and the others her whole heart. I could not be more happy where he found himself....and I think he could not either because he is now a proven stud/proud daddy of his first litter of 5 beautiful puppies with Mishka! Puppy photos below! I cannot handle the cuteness.
